11 61 730 BMW leakage test for intake system (N63O1)
Special tools required:
Identification:
- Pressure line blue
- Vacuum line red
Excess pressure and vacuum lines must not be mixed up.
Mixing up the lines will result in engine damage.
Necessary preliminary work:
- Remove INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING
- Prepare BMW diagnosis system
- Start diagnosis program
- Power train
- Engine electronics
- Air supply
- Charging pressure control system or perception of lack of power

Check intake system for leaks:
For a precise leakage test, both clean air pipes must be closed with the special tool 2 358 459 .
Fasten clamp with 4 Nm.
Connect the pressure hose (1) with special tool 2 358 459 .
Insert the blue over overpressure lines into the pneumatic coupling (1) up to the limit position.
Insert the blue overpressure lines on the diagnosis auxiliary device 0 426 464 on the connector (1).
Connect the IMIB (3) with the connector (2) of the diagnosis auxiliary device by means of the hose 2 201 924.
Installation note:
Follow diagnosis instruction.
Leak detection with BMW smoke tester:
Disconnect the overpressure line (2) on the diagnosis auxiliary device.
Connect pressure line (1) from the BMW smoke tester 2 353 954 with the overpressure line (2).
Put the BMW smoke tester 2 353 954 into operation according to the operating instructions.
Observe BMW diagnosis instructions.
Leaks on the air intake duct are detected by escaping smoke.
