11 12 006 Removing and installing/sealing right cylinder head cover (S63)

Special tools required: 

• 11 4 470

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Disconnect NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
• Remove ACOUSTIC COVER 
• Remove RIGHT INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING
• Remove right INTERCOOLER
• Disconnect FUEL DELIVERY LINE
• Detach engine wiring harness and wiring harness for injectors and lay to one side
• Remove IGNITION COILS , cylinders 1-4
• Remove HIGH PRESSURE PUMP
• Remove INJECTORS , cylinders 1-4
• Remove CATALYTIC CONVERTER for cylinders 1-4.
• Remove TURBOCHARGER , cylinders 1-4.
• Remove VACUUM PUMP .
• Remove washing water filler neck.

Remove retaining clips (1).

Release screws (1).

Remove holder (2).

Tightening torque: 11 12 4AZ .

Release screws (1).

Remove heat shield (2).

Release screw connections in the sequence (16 to 1).

Remove cylinder head cover.

Clean sealing surface (1 and 2) with special tool 11 4 470 .

Installation note: 

Replace profile seals (1 and 2).

Installation note: 

Renew sealing ring (1) for lubrication of vacuum pump.

Installation note: 

It is important to insert screws (15 and 16) for exact positioning of the camshaft sensors.

Fit cylinder head cover.

Position screws (15 and 16).

Release screws again by a 90° turn.

Secure cylinder head cover in sequence (1 to 16) in two work steps.

Tightening torque 11 12 3AZ .

Assemble engine.
