34 41 220 Removing and installing/replacing all handbrake shoes

Special tools required: 

• 32 1 030
• 34 4 000

Installation: 

• Remove rear brake disk, refer to 34 21 320 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING BOTH REAR BRAKE DISKS 

After completing tasks, adjust handbrake, refer to 34 10 014 ADJUSTING HANDBRAKE .

Lock adjuster unit (ASZE). Using special tool 32 1 030, press stop (2) of adjusting spring back to such an extent that retaining hook (3) engages in stop (2).

Disconnect return spring (1) with brake spring pliers.

Installation: 

1. Check and if necessary replace return spring (1). Figure illustrates right side: left side is mirror image of this. Pay attention to installation position of adjustment screw (2).

2. Apply a thin coat of grease to bush and screw threads, Refer to OPERATING FLUIDS - BRAKES .

Disconnect return spring (1) with brake spring pliers.

Installation: 

1. Check and if necessary replace return spring (1).

Turn clamping pins (1) with special tool 34 4 000 through 90° and disconnect.

Remove brake shoes (2).
