51 49 000 Removing and installing or replacing trim for rear lid

Special tools required: 

When working on trim panel components, make sure that the sensitive surfaces are not scratched or damaged.

Unclip cover (1) towards top.

Release screws (1) from tailgate trim.

Unclip cover (1) from the lock strap (2) and set aside.

Version with light package: 

Unclip the left and right luggage compartment light (1) with suitable screwdriver (2).

Release screw (3) under luggage compartment light (1).

Version without light package: 

Remove the cover instead of the luggage compartment light.

Release the screw (3) under the covers.

Remove the LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LIGHT ON THE CENTER TAILGATE .

Open cover (1) on tailgate trim and unclip warning triangle (2).

Release screw (3) under warning triangle.

Partially unclip tailgate side upholstery (1) on left and right.

NOTE: Shown removed here for purposes of clarity.
Unclip tailgate trim (1) special tool 00 9 325 (2).
Disconnect the tailgate trim (1) slightly and remove the plug connections from the tailgate pushbutton (3).
Feed out tailgate trim (1) from lock strap and set aside.

Installation note: 

Renew faulty or missing clips (2).

Replacement: 

Attention! 

The rear lid button can be difficult to disassemble/mount.

For replacement (version without light package): 

The new trim for the rear lid is only delivered as a light package version.

If necessary, the LEDs for the handle recess and adapter cable must be retrofitted.
