64 52 523 Removing and installing/replacing A/C system compressor (S63)
Special tools required:
Refrigerant circuit is under high pressure!
Observe the safety information for handling the R 134a refrigerant! . See 64 50... NOTE FOR HANDLING R134A REFRIGERANT or 64 50... SAFETY INFORMATIONS FOR HANDLING TETRAFLUORETHANE REFRIGERANT R134A
Avoid contact with refrigerant and refrigerant oil.
FOLLOW SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR HANDLING REFRIGERANT OIL!
Restart engine only when A/C system has been correctly filled.
Read and comply with notes on compressor replacement . See 64 52... NOTES FOR CHANGING THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR (AMOUNT OF REFRIGERANT OIL OF NEW AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR NOT KNOWN) or 64 52... NOTES FOR CHANGING THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR (AMOUNT OF REFRIGERANT OIL OF NEW AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR KNOWN) .
FOLLOW NOTES FOR OPENING AND REPLACING PARTS IN REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT .
If Air conditioning is opened for more than 24 h:
Replace DESICCANT INSERT for air conditioning.
Necessary preliminary work:
- DRAIN OFF AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM
- Remove A/C COMPRESSOR DRIVE BELT
- Release HYDRAULIC STEERING GEAR from front axle support and steering shaft
- Remove RIGHT INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING
Release screw (1).
Tightening torque 64 53 7AZ .
Take refrigerant line (3) off connecting piece (2).
Release screw (1).
Tightening torque 64 53 3AZ .
Take the refrigerant line (2) of the condenser.
This work step makes swivelling the compressor to remove the refrigerant lines easier.
Release screws (1).
Tightening torque 64 52 3AZ .
Release screws (1).
Tightening torque 64 52 3AZ .
Disconnect plug connection (2).
Lower compressor (5).
Release screws (3) and (4) and remove refrigerant lines.
Tightening torque 64 52 1AZ .
Installation note:
Replace sealing rings.
Use special tool 00 9 030 to mount sealing rings without damaging them.
Carefully feed out compressor to the bottom.
Replacement:
- Adjust the amount of refrigerant oil in the new compressor . See 64 52... NOTES FOR CHANGING THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR (AMOUNT OF REFRIGERANT OIL OF NEW AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR NOT KNOWN) or 64 52... NOTES FOR CHANGING THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR (AMOUNT OF REFRIGERANT OIL OF NEW AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR KNOWN)
Danger of customer complaints due to reduced cooling power of the Air conditioning!
Before the installation of the new compressor, it is absolutely necessary to adjust the amount of refrigerant oil in the new compressor!
Compliance with safety information is mandatory! .
After installation:
