41 62 000 Removing And Installing Tailgate

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove panel for tailgate. See 51 49 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING TRIM FOR REAR LID .
Disconnect all cable plug connections and pull wiring harness out of tailgate.

Carry over the work steps shown symmetrically to the other side of the car.

Undo latch mechanisms and disconnect wiring harness holder (1) from hinge.

Undo nut (1) and remove ground cable.

Tightening torque 41 62 8AZ .

Undo nuts (2) and remove tailgate with a second person.

Tightening torque 41 62 1AZ .

Installation note:

Install tailgate at screw locations on hinge.

If necessary, adjust trunk lid. See 41 62 014 ADJUSTING TAILGATE .

If reversing camera optional equipment installed:

Calibrate REVERSING CAMERA .
