Strip down vehicle. See 41 12 548 STRIPPING OPERATIONS - REPLACING REAR CROSS-MEMBER ON LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR (TAIL PANEL REMOVED) .

Use only approved spot-welding apparatus for repairs. See 41 00... WORKSHOP EQUIPMENT (BMW AND MINI VEHICLES) .

Following new body parts are required (refer to 41 00... OVERVIEW OF CONSUMABLES ):

(1) End of luggage compartment floor

Removing cross-member

Open welded connections in areas (1) and (2).

Open welded connections in area (1) and remove cross member (2).

New part preparation

Fit cross member in combination with tail panel. See 41 34 041 REPLACING TAIL PANEL .

Installing cross-member:

Install cross member and weld the same as series.
