63 31... Removing and installing/replacing front left or right top door trip panel fiber optic conductor

WARNING: Fiber optic conductors are sensitive (risk of damage). Always handle carefully.

Necessary preliminary work:

Remove front door trim. See 51 41 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL .
Work station with cleaner working surface

Top fiber optic conductor below decorative strip

Use special tool 64 1 020 to unclip fiber optic conductor (2) from door trim panel (1) at the fastening clips (3) with light rotating movement.

Installation note:

Make sure fiber optic conductor (1) correctly locks at fastening clips (3).

Pull LED module (1) out of bracket (2).
Carefully pull LED module (1) from optical fiber (2).

Installation note:

LED module (1) must lock into position (light distribution).

Feed fiber optic conductor (1) out of door trim panel (2) in direction of arrow and remove.

Installation note:

Check fiber optic conductor (1) for damage (scratches or cracks), replace if necessary.
