25 11 111 Replacing gearshift rod joint

Necessary preliminary work:

Remove PROPELLER SHAFT

Lift off retainer (1).

Detach gearshift rod (2).

Installation note:

Grease gearshift rod.

Grease, refer to BMW Service Operating Fluids. See GEAR SHIFT MECHANISM -- OPERATING FLUIDS .

IMPORTANT: Retaining clip must interlock captively with retaining web (1) behind shift rod pin.

Lever spring circlip (1) out of groove and push a little towards rear.

Press cylindrical pin (2) upwards/downwards out of gearshift rod joint and remove gearshift rod joint.

Installation note:

Grease ball of gearshift shaft.

Grease, refer to BMW Service Operating Fluids. See GEAR SHIFT MECHANISM -- OPERATING FLUIDS .

Replace spring circlip (1).

Installation note:

Check rubber ring (1) in gearshift rod joint (2) and replace if necessary.
