52 17 037 Removing and installing/replacing release mechanism on left or right front seat (comfort seat)

Inexpert handling can trigger off the airbag or the belt pretensioner and thereby cause injuries.
If a seat belt which is damaged due to an accident is exchanged, always check the affected seat for damage.

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove cover for seat belt deflection. See 52 14 090 REMOVING AND INSTALLING BELT DEFLECTOR or 52 16 100 REMOVING AND INSTALLING BELT DEFLECTOR .
Disengage seat cover (1) from hook (2) and fold to one side.
Release screws (1).
Disengage Bowden cable (1) from actuator (2) and holder (3) and release all attachments.
Remove belt deflector support upper section (4) complete with Bowden cable (1) from backrest in upward direction.
NOTE:
For clarification purposes, seat is shown with seat cover removed.
Only when replacing the complete belt deflector support:
Release screws (1) and remove belt deflector support lower section (2).
