54 62 000 Activating/retracting the rollover protection bar

WARNING: Danger of injury!
When a rollover protection bar is activated mechanically, only one person may be present underneath the rollover protection bar.

Mechanically triggering rollover bar:

A mechanical emergency release is performed via the luggage compartment.

Stow (open) soft top in soft top compartment.

Lift out sealing caps (1) from luggage compartment trim panel.

Using Torx key TX40, emergency unlock rollover protection by applying force against the pressure spring force (direction of arrow).

IMPORTANT: Rollover protection bar must be fully extended.
Check at arrow on rollover protection bar.

IMPORTANT: When retracting, make sure rollover protection bar engages in lower limit position.
Relieve rollover protection bar slowly!

Resetting rollover protection system after service

1. Spring

2. Cover

3. Release lever

4. Lock

5. Ignition squib

6. Lock

Press release lever (3) inwards against the active spring force and hold it.

Press rollover protection bar down as far as the limit position until the actuator locks.

NOTE: release lever (3) directly before the actuator locks.

Continue to press the rollover protection bar right down until it engages audibly!
