54 34... Opening/closing convertible top in event of a technical fault

Remove filler piece (1) towards front.

Remove first aid kit.

Remove tools (2, 3, 4).

• Soft top tool (hexagon socket wrench) (2)
• Rear window tool (hexagon socket wrench) (3)
• Adapter (4)

Closing the soft top manually: 

Unlocking convertible top compartment lid: 

• Open tailgate
• Pop actuator button (1) on left and right out of luggage compartment trim panel.
• Pull actuator button (1) on left and right and unlock convertible top compartment lid.

Raise the soft top compartment lid (1) slightly when unlocking it on the left and right sides.

Manually lowering rear window: 

Raise soft top compartment lid slightly and secure.

Insert rear window tool (2) through the funnel-shaped opening into the spindle of rear-window drive (1).

Turn spindle clockwise with rear window tool (2) until rear window is fully lowered. Depending on the position, it may be necessary to engage the rear window tool (2) repeatedly in the rear-window drive (1).

Lifting out soft top: 

Fully open soft top compartment lid and hold.

Remove cover in middle (1) of front soft top bow.

Insert soft top tool (2) into the cowl panel lock drive and turn clockwise through approx. half a turn to open the retaining hooks.

Grip the front corner of the soft top frame (1) with one hand on both sides of the vehicle. Grip the fin on the lower edge with the other hand. At the same time hold the soft top compartment lid open, e.g. with your shoulder.

Lift out the front soft top bow and the fins on both sides at the same time and swing towards the front.

Close soft top compartment lid (1).

Fold down both fins (1) onto the soft top compartment lid.

Locking soft top: 

Press the front soft top bow from the outside in the middle onto the windscreen frame. At the same time insert the soft top tool (1) into the cowl panel lock drive (2) and turn counterclockwise until the front soft top bow is completely locked with the windscreen frame.

Remove soft top tool (1) and install cover in middle of front soft top bow.

Insert the long end of the soft top tool (3) into adapter (2).

Carefully raise the headlining (1) in the rear passenger compartment. Attach adapter to the pin marked red (4) on the soft top mechanism.

Press fin from the outside in a downward direction. At the same time pull the soft top tool upwards as far as it will go. This presses the fin onto the soft top compartment lid and locks it.

Raise rear window.

Manually raising rear window:

Raise soft top compartment lid slightly and secure.

Insert rear window tool (2) through the funnel-shaped opening into the spindle of rear-window drive (1).

Turn spindle counterclockwise with rear window tool (2) until rear window is fully raised. Depending on the position, it may be necessary to engage the rear window tool (2) repeatedly in the rear-window drive (1).

Opening the soft top manually:

Raise soft top compartment lid slightly and secure.

Insert rear window tool (2) through the funnel-shaped opening into the spindle of rear-window drive (1).

Turn spindle clockwise with rear window tool (2) until rear window is fully lowered. Depending on the position, it may be necessary to engage the rear window tool (2) repeatedly in the rear-window drive (1).

Insert the long end of the soft top tool (3) into adapter (2).

Carefully raise the headlining (1) in the rear passenger compartment. Attach adapter to the pin marked red (4) on the soft top mechanism.

Press soft top tool downwards as far as it will go. This unlocks the fin.

Unlocking soft top: 

Remove the cover in the middle of the front soft top bow.

Insert soft top tool (1) into cowl panel lock drive (2) and turn clockwise until the front soft top bow is fully unlocked.

Unlocking convertible top compartment lid: 

• Open tailgate
• Pop actuator button (1) on left and right out of luggage compartment trim panel.
• On both sides grip the fins by the lower edge and at the same time swing upwards and hold.
• Pull actuator button (1) on left and right and unlock soft top compartment lid. At the same time raise the soft top compartment lid in front of the rear window slightly.

Stowing soft top: 

• Fully open soft top compartment lid and hold.
• Grip the front corner of the soft top frame with one hand on both sides of the vehicle. Hold the fins with the other hand.
• On both sides of the vehicle pull the front soft top bow towards the rear and at the same time continue holding the fins.
• Stow the soft top on both sides uniformly in the soft top compartment.

Insert soft top tool (2) into the cowl panel lock drive and turn counterclockwise through approx. half a turn to close the retaining hooks.

Install cover in middle (1) of front soft top bow.

Close soft top compartment lid.
