54 34 820 Removing and installing kinematics box (locking device)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Open the tailgate, unclip the emergency release button on the left and right and pull off the Bowden cable.

Open convertible top compartment lid until all hydraulic cylinders are completely extended.

Support soft top compartment lid in SERVICE POSITION

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 54 34 28AZ .

Remove kinematics box.

Remove snap ring (1).

Pull off Bowden cable nipple.

NOTE: Do not undo nuts in marked area (2).

Replacement only:

Remove hydraulic cylinder for convertible top compartment lid. Refer to 54 34 006 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT HYDRAULIC CYLINDER FOR SOFT TOP COMPARTMENT LID and 54 34 007 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING RIGHT HYDRAULIC CYLINDER FOR SOFT TOP COMPARTMENT LID .
