33 10 036 Removing and installing/replacing adapter on rear axle differential (M6)

Special tools required: 

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

23 4 050 Position special tool on workshop jack. 00 2 030

23 4 050 Support rear axle final drive unit with special tool.

Secure rear axle differential to special tool 23 4 050 with tensioning straps.

Unscrew nuts (1).

Remove screws with absorber weight (2).

Installation note: 

replace screws and nuts (1).

Adhere to the assembly sequence in order to prevent distortion of the rear axle differential during installation and thereby avoid potential complaints about noise.

Release nut and screw (1).

Installation note: 

Replace nut (1).

Carefully lower rear axle differential.

IMPORTANT:

Risk of damage!

Output shafts must not rest on pivot arms!

Watch out for cable lengths!

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 33 17 6AZ .

Remove adapter (2).

Replacement: 

Release screw (1).

Tightening torque 33 11 10AZ .

Remove vibration absorber (2).

Installation note: 

Insert screw (1) with Loctite.

Remove any adhesive residue from the thread.)

Assembly sequence:

  1. Press rear axle differential (2) to the top with special tool 23 4 050 and 00 2 030 .
  2. Screw in screw and nut (3) (do not apply tightening force).
  3. Insert screws with absorber weight and nuts (1) (do not apply tightening force).
  4. Release tensioning strap, lower special tools 23 4 050 and 00 2 030 and move away.
  5. Apply tightening force to screws and nuts (1).

    Tightening torque 33 17 1AZ .

  6. Apply tightening force to screw and nut (3).

    Tightening torque 33 17 2AZ .
