32 41 437 Removing and installing/replacing Dynamic Drive return from separation point to cooling loop

Special tools required:

WARNING: DANGER OF POISONING if oil is ingested/absorbed through the skin!
DANGER OF INJURY if oil comes into contact with eyes and skin!

IMPORTANT: Adhere to the utmost cleanliness. Do not allow any dirt to enter the hydraulic system.
Do not draw off hydraulic fluid (risk of contamination).
Close off line connections with seal plug. 32 1 270

Recycling:

Catch and dispose of hydraulic fluid in a suitable collecting vessel.

Necessary preliminary work:

Remove underbody protection at front and rear. See 51 47 490 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FRONT UNDERBODY PROTECTION or 51 47 491 REMOVING REFITTING/REPLACING REAR ENGINE UNDERCOVER
Remove stiffening plate (F01, F02 N74)
Disconnect BATTERY EARTH LEAD
Removing intake port (N57)
Remove pressure pipe (N57).
Intake silencer housing (only N57 until 09/2011)
Remove fan cowl . See 17 11 035 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FAN COWL WITH ELECTRIC FAN (N55) , 17 11 035 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/RENEWING FAN COWL WITH ELECTRIC FAN (N63) or 17 11 035 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING THE FAN COWL WITH ELECTRIC FAN (N63 B40/B44 O 1) with electric fan (N55/N63/N74)
Mark electrical steering gear . See 32 13 070 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ELECTRIC STEERING BOX (EPS) or 32 13 075 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ELECTRICAL STEERING BOX ACTIVE STEERING to front axle support and release, unlock wiring harness, pull off and pull steering gear forwards

IMPORTANT: Pressure lines must be closed off with suitable seal plugs 32 1 270 immediately after removal!

Release screw (1) in area of lower wishbone.

Tightening torque 32 41 15AZ .

Release line clips (1) and (2) from front axle support.

Tightening torque 37 13 7AZ

Unlock return line on cooling loop and disconnect.

Remove return line.

IMPORTANT: When assembling, make sure that in succession only the seal plugs of the line to be fitted are removed.
When fitting lines, do not tilt connectors (sealing rings!) and connect fully before screwing.
Do not replace sealing rings on hydraulic lines.
Replace affected line if sealing ring is damaged.

After installation:

Carry out INITIAL DYNAMIC DRIVE OPERATION n
Check pipe connections for leaks
