24 13 017 Replace Radial Shaft Seal For Output Flange (GA8HP70Z)

Special tools required:

IMPORTANT:

Do not let skin come in contact with transmission oil and do not inhale fuel vapors.
Wear protective gloves.
Ensure adequate ventilation.

IMPORTANT: After completion of repair work, check TRANSMISSION OIL LEVEL .
Use only the approved transmission oil .
Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious damage to the automatic transmission!

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove REAR UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
Remove complete exhaust system . See 18 00 020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COMPLETE EXHAUST SYSTEM (N63) or 18 00 018 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COMPLETE EXHAUST SYSTEM (N57 D30 O 1) .
Remove cross member . See 22 32 050 REPLACING CROSS MEMBER FOR GEARBOX MOUNTING (N57) or 22 32 050 REPLACING CROSS-MEMBER FOR TRANSMISSION MOUNTING (N63) .
Remove PROPELLER SHAFT .
Support transmission with lifter.

Release transmission support block from transmission.

Tightening torque: 22 32 1AZ .

Grip output flange (1) with special tool 23 0 020 .

Release nut with special tool 24 2 380 .

Tightening torque: 24 13 1AZ .

Installation note:

Renew inner radial shaft seal.

Renew output flange.

Replace nut and secure with a mandrel (8 mm) by caulking.

Detach output flange from output shaft.

Remove spacer.

Attach special tool 24 2 353 to output shaft (1).

Screw in special tool 24 2 351 until it is firmly connected with radial shaft seal.

Pull out radial shaft seal by screwing in special tool 24 2 352 .

Oil sealing lip on radial shaft seal (1). Drive in radial shaft seal (1) with special tool 24 2 370 and adapter ring 24 2 410 as far as it will go.
