35 21 000 Removing and installing/replacing brake pedal

Remove trim for instrument panel at bottom left. Refer to 51 45 180 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TRIM FOR INSTRUMENT PANEL, BOTTOM LEFT .

Remove trim for pedals. Refer to 51 45 185 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TRIM FOR PEDALS .

If necessary, remove reinforcement plate and switch unit.

NOTE: After installation: Adjust brake light switch. Refer to 61 31 310 REPLACING BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH .

Raise lugs on retainers (1) and detach retainers. Unhook spring (2).

Pull out retaining pin (1) and detach piston rod from brake pedal.

Remove brake pedal (2).

Installation:

Check bearing bushes (1) and replace if necessary.

Apply a light coat of grease to bearing bushes (1) and bore, refer to BMW SERVICE OPERATING FLUIDS .
