41 14 502 Replacing Rear Left Outer Wheel Arch Section (Rear Left Side Wall Removed)

WARNING: The following points must be strictly observed prior to starting work :

Disconnect HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEM FROM POWER
Observe SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS for handling with hybrid cars

Spot-weld bonding is used on this vehicle. Observe specific procedure. See SPOT-WELD BONDING STEEL COMPONENTS and OPENING ADHESIVE BONDS .

Remove or cover those vehicle components in the repair area which are susceptible to heat or dust.

Use only approved SPOT-WELDING APPARATUS for repairs.

Following new body parts are required (refer to ELECTRONIC PARTS CATALOGUE ):

(1) Reinforcement, C-pillar, bottom
(2) Wheel arch, outer, rear
(3) Reinforcement, D-pillar, inner
(4) Shaped parts, wheel arch (not pictured)

Removal of the outer wheel arch section:

REMOVE CAVITY SEALING (1).

Open welded connections in area (2).

Remove reinforcement on C-pillar.

Mark severance cut (1) in accordance with specified dimension and cut.

IMPORTANT: Cut outer panel only.

Dimension a = approx. 150 mm from lower edge of D-pillar reinforcement.

Open welded connections in area (2).

Remove D-pillar reinforcement section.

Installation note:

Weld in REINFORCEMENT PLATE at severance cut.

Mark severance cut (1) in accordance with specified dimension and cut.

IMPORTANT: Cut outer panel only.

Dimension a = 20 mm

Open welded connections in area (2).

REMOVE CAVITY SEALING (1).

Mark severance cut (2) in accordance with specified dimension and cut.

Dimension a = 20 mm distance from radius.

Open welded connections in area (3).

Remove section for outer wheel arch section.

New part preparation:

Mark new part in radius (1) and cut.

Installation of outer wheel arch section:

Fit new part from below and adjust to fit in conjunction with side wall.

Weld new part.
