51 16 372 Removing and installing/replacing lower glovebox lid

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove GLOVE COMPARTMENT

NOTE: Graphic is only an example (graphic used shows glove box up to 09/09)

Close glovebox lid.

Release tab washer (1) and remove pin (2).

Installation:

Replace tab washer (1) and pin (2).

Drive out shaft (1) in direction of arrow until knurled area (2) is exposed.

Pull out shaft (1) completely and remove glovebox lid.

Installation:

Check that shaft (1) is securely seated.

If necessary, fit flap fastening set.

Installation:

If necessary, replace faulty bushings (1).

Markings (2) on bushing (1) and glovebox lid (3) must line up.

Replacement:

Modify cover of lower end cover (1) by releasing from screws (2).

Check to see whether adhesive tape (4) of lower glove box end cover (5) can be reused, replace if necessary.
