31 12 138 Replacing rubber mounts on both trailing links

Special tools required:

31 3 032
33 3 322

NOTE: Procedure (except for M models) is described in removing and installing/replacing RUBBER MOUNT IN TRAILING LINK ON THE LEFT OR RIGHT .

IMPORTANT: On M models the rubber mounts on both trailing links must always be renewed. Note that the rubber mounts may only be changed once.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Check wheel control joints of tension struts while installed, replace TENSION STRUTS if necessary
Remove TRAILING LINKS

Using a press and special tools 33 3 322 and 31 3 032, press rubber mount out of tension strut.

NOTE: Special tool 33 3 322 must be exactly flush with rubber mount bush.

Installation note:

Keep rubber mount and bush in tension strut clean and free from grease.

Align rubber mounts to each other using markings and press in. The deviation (A) must not exceed ± 5°.
