31 12 007 Replacing rubber mounts for front axle support in both lower wishbones

Special tools required:

IMPORTANT: For reasons of driving dynamics, the rubber mounts may only be replaced in pairs (refers to left and right wishbones)!

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Check ball joint of both wishbones while installed; if necessary, replace LOWER WISHBONES
Remove both LOWER WISHBONES

Press rubber mount with special tools 31 4 151 and 31 4 152 out of wishbone.

IMPORTANT: Use rubber mount with gearing (1)!

Installation note:

Keep rubber mount (1) and bushing in wishbone clean and free from oil and grease.

Press rubber mount (1) (from chamfered end of wishbone bushing) with special tools 31 4 152 and 31 4 153 into limit position of wishbone bushing.

After installation:

Perform wheel alignment. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT WITH VEHICLE LOAD UP TO DESIGN POSITION or CHASSIS/WHEEL ALIGNMENT CHECK WITH RIDE HEIGHT MEASUREMENT WITHOUT VEHICLE LOAD .
Carry out STEERING ANGLE SENSOR ADJUSTMENT/ADJUSTMENT for active front steering.
Teach in END STOP SOFTWARE for electrical steering gear.
