61 31 342 Removing and installing/renewing gear selector switch

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Clamp off BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD
E72 Only: Disconnect BOTH NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLES
Remove CENTRE CONSOLE TRIM

Release screws (1). Tightening torque 51 16 2AZ .

Raise gear selector switch carrier (2) and disconnect all plug connections.

Remove gear selector switch carrier (2).

Remove TRIM FOR GEAR SELECTOR SWITCH .

Release screws (1). Tightening torque 61 31 4AZ .

Remove gear selector switch (2) from gear selector switch carrier (3).

Replacement:

Carry out VEHICLE PROGRAMMING/ENCODING .
