33 32 064 Removing and installing/replacing left or right swinging arm: Notes

NOTE: If the swinging arm is detached from the integral link/wheel carrier or rear axle support, it is necessary after re-installation to carry out a chassis / wheel alignment check.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Slacken nut (1).

Tightening torque: see 5AZ in 37 14 ELECTRIC COMPONENTS

Remove jointed rod (2) from swinging arm.

Installation note: 

Sensor lever (3) must point from ride height sensor to respective rear wheel.

Replace self-locking nut.

Slacken nut (1).

Remove bolt (2) towards rear.

Tightening torque: see 3AZ in 33 32 TRAILING ARMS AND STRUTS

Installation note: 

Replace self-locking nut.

IMPORTANT: Loosen the screw connection swinging arm on rear axle support only with ring installation tool (1) and extension lever (2).
Release torque > 400 Nm

Release nut (1) and remove eccentric washer (see magnified area in Fig 4). Pull out eccentric bolt (2).

Tightening torque: see 2AZ in 33 32 TRAILING ARMS AND STRUTS

Installation note: 

Note direction of insertion of eccentric bolt (2).

Align eccentric bolt (2) by means of marking to rear axle support.

Reinstall eccentric washer (see magnified area in Fig 4).

Replace self-locking nut.

Tighten bolt connection in NORMAL POSITION .

Release nut (3) and remove bolt (4).

Tightening torque: see 1AZ in 33 32 TRAILING ARMS AND STRUTS

Installation note: 

Replace nut.

Tighten bolt connection in NORMAL POSITION .
