67 31 530 Removing and installing/replacing backrest adjustment motor (production date 07/2012 through model year 2015)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove driver's or passenger seat. See REMOVING DRIVER'S SEAT or REMOVING FRONT PASSENGER SEAT .
Remove rear panel on front seat backrest. See REMOVING REAR PANEL (NORMAL/ELECTRIC SEAT) , REMOVING REAR PANEL (SPORT SEAT) , or REMOVING LOWER REAR PANEL (COMFORT SEAT) .
Remove covers on front seat. See REMOVING INNER COVER ON LEFT/RIGHT (NORMAL/ELECTRIC SEAT) , REMOVING INNER COVER ON LEFT/RIGHT (SPORT SEAT) , or REMOVING INNER COVER ON LEFT/RIGHT (COMFORT SEAT) .

Detach seat fabric (1) in marked area.

Release clip (1).

Detach backrest cover (2).

NOTE: Carry out work on the right side in the same way as for the left side illustrated here.

Release screws (1).

Push back drive linkage (1) until drive for backrest angle adjustment is free.

Installation note:

Make sure drive linkage (1) is correctly seated in backrest adjustment motor.

Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.

Feed out drive (2) towards top.

Carry out FUNCTION CHECK WITH ADAPTER CABLE

Replacement

INITIALIZE backrest adjustment motor.
