51 31 030 Removing and installing/replacing water strip on left and right (side cover)

Necessary preliminary tasks

Remove LOWER COWL PANEL FROM WINDSCREEN .

IMPORTANT: Rubber frame (1) features an aluminum strip (6).
Carefully unwind rubber frame (1) (windscreen breakage).

NOTE: Tear-off lip (4) may be stuck to adhesive (3).

When rubber frame (1) is removed, tear-off lip (4) can tear off and remain in vehicle.

7 Sealing lip installed

When replacing without removing windscreen:

If adhesive leaks over tear-off lip (4), this area must be cut out partially.

Detach tear-off lip (4) from rubber frame (1).

To facilitate installation, coat rubber frame (1) and body aperture with water.

Replacement with removed/new windscreen

Fit rubber frame (1) with tear-off lip (4).

Installation note:

Make sure roof strip (1), upper windscreen cover (2) and rubber frame on left and right (3) are correctly positioned in relation to each other (wind noises).
