Necessary preliminary tasks

• Remove TRIM PANEL FOR ROOF PILLAR AT REAR (C-PILLAR) 
• Remove flap in luggage compartment panel  . See 5147173 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FLAP IN LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM ON LEFT  or 5147220 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM PANEL ON RIGHT SIDE PANEL 

Release clip (1).

Detach trim panel (2) from clips (3).

Release screws (1).

Detach trim panel (3) from upper clip (4) and disconnect plug connections from light or comfort opener.

Detach trim panel (3) from lower clip (4) and retainer (2) and feed out.

Installation: 

If necessary, lever out clips (1) remaining in bore.

If necessary, replace faulty clips (1).

Seal (2) must not be damaged.

Installation: 

There are two build dates for the comfort opener:

1. A Build date up to 10/2006

   Small drive gear, without toothing cover, with cable holder (2)

2. B Build date from 10/2006

Large drive gear, with toothing cover (3), without cable holder

When converting from build date A to build date B, cable holder (2) must be removed and is omitted.

Depending on build date, ensure correct cable routing (1).

Cables (1) must not be jammed.
