Necessary preliminary tasks

Remove HOUSING ON EXTERIOR MIRROR
Remove DRIVE for electrically adjustable exterior mirror

Release screws (1) on retaining ring (2).

Starting at bottom, unclip catches (1) all round from retaining ring (2) with special tool 00 9 317 .

Remove retaining ring (2).

Installation:

Catches (1) must not be damaged.

Locators (2) for multitooth catches must not be damaged.
