51 71 040 Removing and installing/replacing front left or right wheel arch cover

NOTE: For purposes of clarity, illustration shows front wheel removed.
Front and rear sections of wheel arch cover can be removed separately.

Front section: 

Open cover (1).

Pull out plug connection (2).

Loosen screws (1).

Disconnect plug connection on temperature sensor (left) and/or on temperature switch for heated windshield spray jets (right).

Remove wheel arch cover (2).

Replacement: 

Remove outside temperature sensor (left). Refer to 65 81 060 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING EXTERNAL TEMPERATURE SENSOR .

Remove temperature switch for heated windshield spray jets (right). Refer to 61 31 440 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TEMPERATURE SWITCH FOR HEATED WINDSHIELD SPRAY JETS .

Installation: 

Ensure wheel arch cover (1) is correctly seated.

Rear section: 

Loosen screws (1).

Remove wheel arch cover (2).

Installation: 

Ensure wheel arch cover (1) is correctly seated.
