Necessary preliminary tasks
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2013 BMW 328xi, 2012 BMW 328xi, 2011 BMW 328xi, 2010 BMW 335xi, and 2010 BMW 328xi. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Remove output shaft. See 3321001 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT OUTPUT SHAFT or 3321002 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING RIGHT OUTPUT SHAFT
- Remove brake disc. See 3421320 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/RENEWING BOTH BRAKE DISCS (E90) or 34 21 320 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING BOTH REAR BRAKE DISCS (E92/E93) .
- Remove pulse generator. See 3452535 REPLACING A REAR PULSE SENSOR (E90) or 34 52 535 REPLACING A REAR PULSE GENERATOR (E92/E93)
IMPORTANT:
Check sensor head and line from pulse sensor prior to installation for external damage, replacing if necessary.
Force drive flange with special tools 33 2 116/33 2 201, 33 2 160, 33 4 200 and 5 wheel bolts out of wheel bearing.
NOTE:
Rounded inside edge of special tool 33 2 160 must point to drive flange.
IMPORTANT:
The wheel bearing is destroyed when the drive flange is removed and can not be reused!
Replace wheel bearing. See 3341153 REPLACING WHEEL BEARING (OUTSIDE DIAMETER 75 MM) ON REAR AXLE SHAFT ; or REPLACING RIGHT WHEEL BEARING ON REAR AXLE SHAFT .
Installation:
Install output shaft. See 3321001 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT OUTPUT SHAFT or 3321002 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING RIGHT OUTPUT SHAFT .
Oil drive flange lightly and attach to splines of output shaft.
