72 11 033 Removing and installing/replacing front left or right seat belt

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove trim panels for door pillar. See REMOVING TRIM FOR DOOR PILLAR (BOTTOM) and REMOVING TRIM PANEL ON DOOR POST (TOP) .

Installation note: 

• Microencapsulated screws (Loctite) must be replaced and may not  be reused
• Screw connection must be completed within 20 minutes (start of hardening)
• Microencapsulated screws must not  be retightened
• Clean thread of nut beforehand in event of repeated use

Version with anchor fitting tensioner: 

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove OUTER COVER

Release screw (1).

Tightening torque 72 11 7AZ .

Remove lock washer.

Pull belt strap (2) out of end fitting pretensioner.

Version without anchor fitting tensioner: 

Move front seat upwards.

Release screw (1) on front seat.

Installation note: 

Replace screw.

Tightening torque 72 11 2AZ .

Feed out belt anchor fitting (2).

Unfasten screws (2).

Tightening torque 72 11 4AZ .

Remove seat belt guide loop.

Release screws (1).

Installation note: 

Replace screws (1).

Remove belt deflector.

Tightening torque 72 11 5AZ .

Release screw (1).

Installation note: 

Replace screw.

Tightening torque 72 11 1AZ .

Unlock automatic reel (2) and remove from B-pillar.

Installation note: 

Automatic reel is encoded against incorrect installation (3).

On versions with REMA seat belt / S5ALA Active Protection: 

Release screws (1).

Installation note: 

Replace screws.

Tightening torque 72 11 1AZ .

Pull out automatic reel (2).

Installation note: 

Retractor mechanism is encoded against incorrect assembly.

Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.

Remove complete seat belt.

Installation note: 

Carry out FUNCTION CHECK  .

During replacement with version REMA seat belt / S5ALA Active Protection: 

Carry out VEHICLE PROGRAMMING/ENCODING .
