52 14 031 Removing and installing/replacing backrest frame for driver's seat (2009-2011)
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 31 other vehicles, including the 2015 BMW Alpina B7L, 2015 BMW Alpina B7, 2015 BMW 750i, 2015 BMW 750Li, and 2015 BMW 740i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Necessary preliminary work:
- Remove DRIVER'S SEAT .
- Partially remove backrest cove. See REPLACING BACKREST COVER FOR DRIVER'S SEAT .
NOTE:
For purposes of clarity the following operations are shown with the backrest cover removed.
Detach clips (2).
Installation:
Replace faulty clips (2).
Unlock plug connections (1) and disconnect.
Detach wiring harness retainers from backrest frame.
Feed wiring harness out of backrest frame.
Unclip left and right clips (1).
Unhook seat covers (2) on left and right.
Release left and right screws (3).
Tightening torque 52 10 2AZ .
Remove backrest frame.
Replacement only:
- If necessary, REMOVE LUMBAR CUSHION WITH DRIVE AND VALVE BLOCK .
- Remove SIDE AIRBAG
- Remove complete backrest cover. See REPLACING BACKREST COVER FOR DRIVER'S SEAT .
- Remove CARRIER PLATE FOR REAR CABIN ENTERTAINMENT
NOTE:
The new backrest frame part contains all the drives.
Version with rear cabin monitor (RSE) only:
Blind rivet threaded pins for carrier plate must be reset.
Attach blind rivet thread pins with ZS 308 rivet gun (see BMW Web catalogue).
