64 52 520 Removing And Installing/Replacing Complete A/C Compressor (M62)

CAUTION: Risk of damage!
Follow instructions for compressor replacement without fail. Refer to 64 52 ... INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPRESSOR REPLACEMENT .

NOTE: A/C system is drawn off. Refer to 64 50 009 DRAWING OFF, EVACUATING AND FILLING A/C SYSTEM (R 134A) .
Drain coolant. Refer to 17 00 005 DRAINING AND TOPPING UP COOLANT (M62, M54 AND M57) .
Remove A/C compressor drive belt. Refer to 11 28 050 REPLACING DRIVE BELT FOR A/C COMPRESSOR (M60 / M62 / M73) .
Remove intake filter housing. Refer to 13 71 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING INTAKE FILTER HOUSING (M62) .

Detach plastic tube (1) on shut-off valve and on pump and remove.

Release screws (2) and detach lines (3).

Installation:

Replace sealing rings.

Detach water hose (1) from thermostat housing cover.

Disconnect plug connection (1).

Detach water hose (2) from radiator and remove.

Release screw (3) and detach mounting plate (4) from radiator.

Installation:

Replace sealing rings.

NOTE: Cover frame rail in area of A/C compressor.

Disconnect plug connection (1).

Release screws (2) and lift out A/C compressor (3).

Replacement:

Release screws (1) and detach lines (2).

Installation:

Replace sealing rings.

Observe tightening torque, 64 52 1AZ. Refer to HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING - TIGHTENING TORQUES .
