17 11 035 Removing and installing/replacing fan cowl with electric fan (N54)

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Read out fault memory of DME control unit
• Switch off ignition
• Remove underbody protection  . See 51 47 490 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FRONT UNDERBODY PROTECTION .

Lever expander rivets (1) out of transverse reinforcement.

Press lock and raise intake duct (2).

Detach intake duct (2) from air filter housing and remove.

Unclip Bowden cable for engine bonnet/hood actuator from transverse reinforcement (1).

Detach A/C line from holder.

Release screws on left and right sides. Tightening torque 51 71 4AZ  , see 51 71 SEALS AND LOOSE BODY PARTS

Remove cross-brace (1).

Unlock plug (1) and remove.

Press hose (1) out of holder (2).

Pull pressure pipe (1) out of holder (2).

Press lock (1).

Raise fan cowl (2) until holder (3) can be brought into assembly position.

Press lock (1).

Feed out fan cowl (2) towards top and remove.

Installation: 

Insert retaining tab (1) at bottom on module carrier.
