17 11 035 Removing and installing/replacing fan cowl with electric fan (N51)

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Read out fault memory of DME control unit
• Switch off ignition
• Remove intake duct  . See 13 71 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING INTAKE FILTER HOUSING (N51) .
• Automatic only: 

Remove underbody protection  . See 51 47 490 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FRONT UNDERBODY PROTECTION (CONVERTIBLE or 51 47 490 REMOVING AND INSTALLING / REPLACING FRONT UNDERBODY PROTECTION (COUPE) .

Automatic only: 

Release screw.

Detach cooler (1) for automatic transmission from fan cowl (2).

Unlock hose (1) and detach.

Release nut and remove bracket (2) for remove bracket for muffler.

Release, unlock and disconnect plug connection (1) in direction of arrow from fan cowl.

Detach cable strap (2) from fan cowl.

Release screw.

Installation: 

Make sure cable guide (3) is installed in correct position between fan cowl and radiator.

Unlock plug (1) and remove.

Unclip line (2) from fan cowl.

Unlock catch in direction of arrow.

Remove fan cowl towards top.

Installation: 

Make sure fan cowl (1) and bracket (2) are in correct installation position.
