33 41 151 Replacing left or right wheel bearing on rear axle shaft

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove drive flange for rear axle shaft
Detach wheel bearing inner race from drive flange

If necessary, raise wheel carrier slightly with workshop jack.

Release screws with 3/8 Torx socket.

Tightening torque 33 41 2AZ . See 33 41 WHEEL BEARINGS .

Remove wheel bearing.

Installation:

Keep contact surface (2) of wheel bearing/wheel carrier clean and free from oil and grease.

Except when replacing: Recondition tapped holes (1).

Install new wheel bearing.

After installation, adjust handbrake. See 34 10 014 ADJUSTING HANDBRAKE .
