54 10 515 Cleaning both rear water drain hoses for panorama glass roof

Flexible crevice nozzle (1), minimum length: 60 cm
Possible procurement source: Electronics market
Heat-shrink tubing with inside adhesive (2) Ø 18.0 / 6.0 mm
Possible procurement source: Automotive parts store
Insulating sleeve (3), inner diameter: 12 mm
Possible procurement source: Automotive parts store
Flexurally rigid Bowden cable sleeve (4), for example: Gear selector cable (at least 3 m long) with two end caps
Possible procurement source: Bicycle shop / spare parts store
Workshop vacuum cleaner
Hand-held hot-air device, order number: 81 49 0 444 131

Remove D-pillar trim panel (1).

IMPORTANT: Protect electronic components (2) against moisture.

To avoid dirt contamination, partially cover/tape off headlining (1) and passenger compartment.

Cut open drain hose (1).

To clean, pierce drain hose (1) with Bowden cable sleeve (2).

IMPORTANT:

Bowden cable (1) is pushed clearly over the headlining for display purposes only.

Not permissible for repairs.

Risk of passenger compartment dirt contamination.

Draw off dirt contamination with crevice nozzle (1).

IMPORTANT: Only use a clean workshop vacuum cleaner to avoid dirt contamination in the passenger compartment.

Clean lower drain hose (1) with Bowden cable (2).

Cut insulating sleeve (2) to approx. 8 cm in length.

Slide cut insulating sleeve onto the lower section of the severed water drain hose (1).

NOTE: If necessary, fix insulating sleeve with super glue to center of lower section of severed water drain hose (1).

Cut heat-shrink tubing (1) to approx. 11 cm in length.

Slide cut heat-shrink tubing (1) onto the upper section of the severed water drain hose (2).

Connect upper water drain hose (1) with insulating sleeve (2) as far as it will go.

Slide heat-shrink tubing (1) centrally over repair area and shrink-fit with hand-held hot-air device (2).

Inside adhesive (1) of heat-shrink tubing (2) must emerge at the ends.
