51 16 210 Removing and installing/replacing trim for preselector lever (from 03/2007)

Special tools required: 

• 00 9 341  . See MAINTENANCE AND GENERAL INFORMATION - SPECIAL TOOLS .

Version with automatic transmission: 

Reach into trim (1) and unclip upwards from retainers (2).

Feed out trim (1) over preselector lever (3).

Installation: 

Make sure retainers (1) are correctly seated in associated mountings of trim (2).

Version with automatic sport transmission: 

Lever out gaiter (1) from catches (2) with special tool 00 9 341  .

Reach into trim (1) and unclip upwards from retainers (2).

Feed out trim (1) upwards over gaiter (3), disconnect associated plug connection and remove trim (1).

Installation: 

Make sure retainers (1) are correctly seated in associated mountings of trim (2).

Replacement: 

If necessary, remove driving dynamics switch.  See 61 31 287 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING DYNAMIC DRIVING SWITCH (SPORT BUTTON) .
