When a spring strut shock absorber is replaced, a spring strut shock absorber with the same identification marking (K) must be installed. See Figure . It is permitted to replace a shock absorber on one side only as long as they have not run for more than 31,000 miles (50,000 km) unless vehicle was built by M-GmbH. In this case, replace both shock absorbers. It is permitted to fit shock absorbers on left and right made by different manufacturers.
