17 11 035 Removing and installing/replacing fan cowl with electric fan (N62TU)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Read out fault memory of DME control unit
Switch off ignition

Unclip cover (1) and remove

Removing left and right intake ducts: Lever out expansion rivets (1). Press lock (2) and raise intake duct (3). Detach intake duct (3) from air filter housing and remove.

NOTE: Illustration shows and text refers to the left intake duct. The procedure is identical for the right intake duct.

Release nut and remove bracket (1). Unclip pull cable (2).

Release screws on left and right sides. Tightening torque, see 51 71 4AZ in 51 71 SEALS AND LOOSE BODY PARTS . Remove cross-brace (1).

Unlock plug (1) and remove.

Press lock (1). Raise fan cowl (2) until holder (3) can be brought into assembly position.

NOTE: For reasons of clarity, illustration and text show coolant hose removed.

Unclip coolant hose from fan cowl. (not shown). Press lock (1). Feed out fan cowl (2) towards top and remove.

Installation: Insert retaining tab (1) at bottom on module carrier.
