Removal & Installation: Starter: Removal

  1. Unclip battery positive lead (1). See Fig 1 . Remove screws (2). Remove shield plate (3).
  2. Remove plug connection (1) of right oxygen sensor from retaining clip (2). See Fig 2 . Remove retaining clip (2) from transmission.
  3. Remove connections on starter motor. See Fig 3 .
  4. Remove both starter motor mounting bolts on transmission. See Fig 4 .
  5. Remove starter from transmission mount. See Fig 5 .
  6. To install, reverse removal procedure. Check starter motor pinion and ring gear for damage. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
