Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove left cylinder head cover. See 11 12 005 Removing and Installing/Sealing Left Cylinder Head Cover (N73)
Remove right cylinder head cover. See 11 12 006 Removing and Installing/Sealing Right Cylinder Head Cover (N73)
Remove inlet and exhaust adjustment unit on left side. See 11 36 047 Removing and installing/replacing inlet and exhaust VANOS on left side (N73)
Remove inlet and exhaust adjustment unit on right side. See 11 36 048 Removing and installing/replacing inlet and exhaust VANOS on right side (N73)
Remove left intermediate lever. See 11 37 012 Removing and Installing/Replacing Left Intermediate Levers (N73)
Remove right intermediate lever. See 11 37 014 Removing and Installing/Replacing Right Intermediate Levers (N73)
Remove left exhaust camshaft. See 11 31 036 Removing and Installing/Replacing Left Exhaust Camshaft (N73)
Remove right exhaust camshaft. See 11 31 038 Removing and Installing/Replacing Right Exhaust Camshaft (N73)
Remove left cylinder head. See 11 12 105 Removing and Installing Left Cylinder Head (N73)
Remove right cylinder head. See 11 12 106 Removing and Installing Right Cylinder Head (N73)
Remove all valve springs. See 11 34 715 Replacing All Valve Springs (N73)

Press special tool 11 6 370 onto valve stem seals. See 11 6 370 PULLER

Withdraw valve stem seals by turning and simultaneously pulling with special tool 11 6 370. See 11 6 370 PULLER

Fit special tool 11 1 380. See 11 1 380 ASSEMBLY SLEEVES

Fit new valve stem seals (1).

Installation:

Apply a light coat of oil to valve stem and valve stem seals.

NOTE: For use on the N62 and N73 engines, special tool 11 6 380 must be remachined in accordance with the illustration with a 6.2 mm dia. drill bit to a depth of A = approx. 45 mm. See 11 6 380 BUSH
This modification has already been taken into account for reordering.

Press on new valve stem seals with special tool 11 3 380 by hand up to stop. See 11 3 380 SCREWDRIVER SOCKET TORX T50

Assemble engine.
