Removal & installation

Remove rear brake discs. See BRAKE DISC (REAR) .
Using Special Tool (32 1 030), press stop (1) of adjusting spring back until retaining hook (2) engages in stop (1). See Figure. This will lock adjuster unit (ASZE).
Disconnect return spring (1) with brake spring pliers. See Fig 1. Figure illustrates right side. Left side is mirror image.
Disconnect return spring (1) with brake spring pliers. See Fig 2.
Turn clamping pins (1) with Special Tool (34 4 000) through 90 degrees and disconnect. See Fig 3. Remove brake shoes (2).
To install, reverse removal procedure. Check return springs and replace, if necessary. Pay attention to installation position of adjustment screw (2). See Fig 1. Apply a thin coat of threads of grease to bushing and screw threads.
Adjust parking brake. See PARKING BRAKE under ADJUSTMENTS.
