64 51 525 Removing and Installing/Replacing Expansion Valve (Automatic A/C High)

WARNING:

Avoid contact with refrigerant and refrigerant oil.

Follow safety instructions for handling refrigerant R 134a.  See 64 50 ... INSTRUCTIONS FOR HANDLING REFRIGERANT R 134A

IMPORTANT:

Risk of damage!

Restart engine only when A/C system has been correctly filled.

NOTE: If A/C system is opened for more than 24 hours: Replacing drier insert for A/C system  See 64 53 551 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING CONDENSER FOR A/C SYSTEM 

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

After installation:

Release screw (1).

Remove left footwell air duct (2) in direction of arrow.

Installation: 

Make sure left footwell air duct (2) is correctly seated.

Release screws (1).

If necessary, unclip plug connection.

Remove expansion valve cover (2) in direction of arrow.

Installation: 

Retaining hooks (1) must engage fully in mounts (2).

Release screw (1).

Detach refrigerant lines (2) in direction of arrow.

Remove plate (3).

Release screws (1).

Detach refrigerant lines (2) in direction of arrow.

Remove plate (3).

Remove expansion valve.

Installation: 

Replace all sealing rings (1).
