Removal & installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 11 other vehicles, including the 2005 BMW 760i, 2005 BMW 760Li, 2005 BMW 745i, 2005 BMW 745Li, and 2004 BMW 760i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Remove rear brake discs. See BRAKE DISC (REAR) .
Disconnect return springs with brake spring pliers. See Fig 1.
Twist clamping pins with Special Tool (34 4 000) through 90 degrees and disconnect. See Fig 2. Remove brake shoes.
To install, reverse removal procedure. Note installation position of adjusting screws (1) and (2). See Fig 3. Figure shows right side; left side is mirror image. Coat threads of bushing (1) and screw (2) with grease.
Check recoil springs and replace, if necessary.
Adjust parking brake. See PARKING BRAKE under ADJUSTMENTS.
