Removal (745i & 745Li)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 11 other vehicles, including the 2005 BMW 760i, 2005 BMW 760Li, 2005 BMW 745i, 2005 BMW 745Li, and 2004 BMW 760i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Press brake pedal several times to reduce vacuum pressure in brake booster. This makes it easier to remove PA pipe.
Remove engine cover.
Interrogate fault memory of DME control unit. Turn off ignition. Remove upper section of intake filter housing. Unlock plug (1) and detach. See Fig 1. Release hose clamps. Pull air-mass flow sensor (2) out of intake hose.
Remove screws and remove cover (1). See Figure. Detach non-return valve (2) from brake booster.
Unfasten hose clip (1). See Fig 2. Detach PA pipe (2) with molded hose from vacuum pump.
Unclip bracket (1). See Fig 3. Disconnect tank vent line at quick-release coupling (2) and lay back over vacuum line. Feed out vacuum hose (3) upwards by turning.
