61 31 342 Removing and installing/replacing gear selector switch

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Disconnect battery negative lead . See 61 20 900 DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD
Remove trim for storage compartment . See 51 16 212 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TRIM FOR CENTER CONSOLE .

Disconnect plug connection (1). Release screws (3) and lay emergence release mechanism to one side.

Tightening torque, see 61 31 7AZ in 61 31 SWITCH . Release screws (2).

Tightening torque, see 61 31 6AZ in 61 31 SWITCH . Remove gear selector switch (4) from centre console (5).

Installation: Align gear selector switch (4) centrally.

Replacement: Modify spacer bolt. Carry out vehicle programming/coding.
