23 42 604 Replace all switch valves (GS7S47BG SMG)

IMPORTANT:

It is essential to adhere to conditions of absolute cleanliness.

Any dirty parts must be cleaned before the switch valves are loosened.

After completion of work, check HYDRAULIC OIL LEVEL .

Use only the approved hydraulic fluid: Pentosin CHF11S (BMW part number 81 22 9 407 758, 1-litre can)

Failure to comply will result in serious damage to the hydraulic unit.

Bleed the actuator block.

Cut open cable strap (1).

Unfasten screws (2).

Remove cover (3).

Installation note: 

Use high-temperature-resistant cable ties (approx. 140 °).

Disconnect connectors (1).

The switch valves 1-4 may only be removed and installed individually in direction of travel from right to left.

Always loosen only the screw (1) to the right next to the valve of the actuator block to be removed.

Presentation: Switch valve 1.

Tightening torque: 22 Nm

Release screws (1).

Presentation: Switch valve 1

Tightening torque: 2.9 Nm

Installation note: 

Replace screws.

Pull the switch valve (1) out of the actuator block.

Presentation: Switch valve 1.

NOTE: The removal of the valve requires increased effort.

IMPORTANT: Observe the presence of the sealing rings (1) after removing the shift valve.

Installation note: 

Prior to installing the shift valve, moisten the sealing rings with hydraulic fluid (Pentosin CHF11S, BMW part number 81 22 9 407 758, 1-litre can).

Installation note: 

Replace sealing ring (1).

Prior to installation, moisten the sealing rings with hydraulic fluid (Pentosin CHF11S, BMW part number 81 22 9 407 758, 1-litre can).

When installing the switch valve, the sealing ring (1) may not be moved or damaged.

Check the correct position again before tightening the valve.

Insert the switch valve (1) as far as possible and tighten with the valve screws.

Tightening torque: 2.9 Nm

Insert screw (1) and tighten down.

Presentation: Switch valve 1.

Tightening torque: 22 Nm

IMPORTANT: The switch valve 2-4 must be removed and installed analogous with switch valve 1.
