Removal & Installation

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
  2. Remove front door scuff plate. Remove screw and pull forward air duct nozzle out of B-pillar trim panel. Remove 2 screws located inside air duct nozzle opening. Detach door weatherstrip from B-pillar trim panel and pull trim panel out.
  3. Loosen 2 top B-pillar sensor mounting screws and remove bottom screw. See Fig 1 . Lower sensor and disconnect harness connector. Feed B-pillar sensor up through opening in B-pillar and remove from vehicle.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure sensor is securely mounted. Tighten screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Replace damaged trim panel trim clips. Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
