Removal & Installation (Rear)

Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Remove headliner. See HEADLINER .
Remove rear packager shelf. Remove rear head air bag module mounting screws. See Fig 1 . Remove rear gas generator mounting screws and disconnect harness connector. Carefully pry gas tube from retaining clips. Remove complete rear head air bag module assembly toward front.
To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure air bag does not contact any sharp edges either on body or on clips. Tighten mounting nuts and screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
