18 00 020 Removing and installing complete exhaust system (S63 B44 T 0)

Special tools required: 

• 31 2 220

Danger of injury! 

Removal of the exhaust system must be carried out with the assistance of a second person.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove rear UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
• Remove STIFFENING PLATE
• Remove REINFORCEMENT PLATE from rear axle.

Support exhaust system with jack and special tool 31 2 220 or with a suitable lever and secure against falling down.

Unscrew nuts (1).

Replace self-locking nuts.

Tightening torque 18 31 1AZ .

Unscrew nuts (1).

Tightening torque 18 20 1AZ .

Unscrew nuts (1).

Tightening torque 18 20 3AZ .

Unfasten screws (2).

Tightening torque 51 61 17AZ .

Release screws (3).

Tightening torque 18 20 6AZ .

Feed out and remove reinforcement plate (4).

Unscrew nuts (1).

Tightening torque 18 20 4AZ .

Remove earth strap.

Detach hose (1) on vacuum unit.

Slacken nut (2).

Tightening torque 18 20 5AZ .

Lower and remove exhaust system with assistance of a second person.

Installation note: 

Check rubber mount for damage.

If necessary, replace damaged rubber mounts.

Check exhaust system for leak tightness.
